Do you guys give allowances yet or have you thought about it. I'm going to start with Skye because I want her to start having a idea what money means. Every time she goes to the store she wants something and then gets all pouty when I say no. And she has been giving me a real hard time with cleaning up so I think this will help in both areas. I'm just not sure how much is good for a 7 year old a week.

Yes and no. We started doing an allowance twice and then for some reason either forgot or just stopped doing it. I'd heard that you do $1 for each year old they are, but $7 a week seemed like alot for this age, so I was doing $5. Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to try and start up again.

Yes I do. I have the whiteboard with what I expect of each child - putting backpacks away, feeding the dog and cat, manners, behavior at school, no whinning or fighting, following rules etc.

They can earn up to $.50 a day but if they don't get all of these things accomplished then I reduce it , some days they only get $.25 earned etc. I keep track of it on the board and then review it on Sat. morning and pay them, starting over after that.

We've discussed allowances a couple of times but haven't actually implemented anything yet.
