Unhappy So depressed

I feel like I'm just a failure with Marek. He is so physical with me, dh and Lukas. He tackles Lukas and lies on top of him until he screams with frustration. He climbs all over me, often while I'm trying to change Lukas or accomplish something else that requires my full concentration, and in my frustration I sometimes shove him away to get control of my body. Lukas is hard to change or lotion after a bath, so I'm wrestling with him while trying to keep from being strangled by a 3-year-old at the same time. And then there are the times that he comes up to me and slams his head into my pubic bone or pounds on my back with his fists. I don't feel like he does it to try to hurt me, but that he gets really excited and expressed his excitement in a very physical way. The end result is the same - it hurts like heck! And sometimes I get so frustrated I give him a swat on the butt.

I know it's not right to swat him or shove him, but I can't contain my frustration sometimes. And then when I try to sit down and talk to him about hitting me or whatever, he tells me, "Mama hit Marek too," or "No pushing, mama - do you understand?" I just want to cry.

Does anyone else deal with this? Monique, what are your thoughts?

I don't have a lot of advice to offer but I do want to offer you a (((HUG))) and tell you that you are NOT a failure, Rudi. Having a 3 year old is HARD and being a SAHM seems to make it harder because we rarely get a break. I can only imagine what it is like to have two children.

We have never spanked Julia (although we are not anti-spank parents if you know what I mean). Right now, when Julia gets out of control or I feel myself losing control with her, it's time for a time out. She doesn't like them but they ususally work. And if she comes out of time out and starts doing what she was doing to warrant the time out, she goes right back in.

Good luck, Rudi. A lot of people have told me that 3 is a very difficult age but 4 gets much easier. Hang in there!

I'm so sorry your having a rough time

I agree that being a SAHM is FREAKING HARD!!!!! It's hard because you never get a break, but it's also hard to never have promotions, bonus pay (or ANY pay lol) or those type of achievements for your hard work. So for me it definitely gets very overwhelming.

I wish I could give some advice about Marek. That has to be EXHAUSTING!!!

I hope it's just a phase and he will eventually not be AS physical. Maybe you should put him in some sort of karate type class or something.

Well, we are talking about starting him with hockey soon. Maybe he can start beating his teammates up instead of me. Or I can put on full pads when I care for him during the day

The karate-type classes I've seen for kids put a lot of emphasis on control and respect. Maybe that would be good for Marek.
