Want for my normal appt check on June 9, same day as my grandma passing away, b/p was high 152/92. Cervix was starting to soften, was still one cent dialeted. Lost 3 lbs. But babys heartrate was in the mid 170s which had them concerened. She suggested we deliever the next day at 37 weeks 1 day. She said she felt safer delievering know then letting me
pg any longer. So we plan for a 7:30 c-section the following day having to be there at 5 am.
We came home and of course our town is one of the towns that were affected by the flood of 2008 in Iowa. We could see water out our front window and we don't live by the river. At about 5 pm that night the birth center said that
if we wanted to make sure we delieverd in the morning that we had better come the night before becasue they were starting to get flooded also. So we pack Wesleys bag and some toys and get all of the babys stuff and my stuff together as well. We drop off Wesley at Papa and Grandmas (my parents) and head of to the birth center. This would be the first time I have every been away from my son over night. We get to the birth center at 6:30. I take a nice relaxing bath. And when I come out I learn that the hospital had lost both cable and phone. So me and
dh ended playing battleship and watching a movie.
At 6 am the next morning they come in to start my IV and get things prepped. I get all prepped. But my dr got stuck by the flood and didn't arrive until 7:45 am. We head down to the OR and they start to prep me for the spinal ( I had an epi with my son and had no problems getting it in) Two different drs try to get it in and they try for over a half hour and by this time my dr had to get back to clinic. After trying so many different times they decided it would be best
if they just go ahead and put me under. Which upsets both me and
dh, because we had talked over with our dr about getting him involved as much as possible during the c-section. Finally at 8:42 am our second son (everyone thought he was a girl) was born. Macabe Derek DeRush. Weighing 6 lbs 12.4 ozs and 20" long. He was born with brown hair and very dark blue eyes. I finally get to see him for the first time at 9:30am. He looks just like his brother did when he was born.
We found out later that day that he had a heart murmur but the dr thought that it would go away. We also found out from my dr that Macabe had gotten stuck and had ended up using the vacum on him and causing a little brusing on his head. She also said that there will be some brusing on my inscion because of how hard they had to pull. Then we find out then the spinal guy came in to check on me that I also had a bruise the size of a softball on my back from the trying to do the spinal.
Macabe and I got discharged on Thursday. He left a little jaundice and weighing 6 lbs 7.1 oz. We want back on Saturday for another jaundice check and he is still jaundice and lost a little more wieght 6 lbs 3.9oz. We go back today to have it checked again. He is eating well, 2 ozs at each feeding. Wesley is in love with his baby brother. He is very protective. Sorry my story is so long on how Macabe entered this world. But as me and my husband both said. Wesley was born during a blizzard and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. Macabe was born during a flood. What will #3 be born during???
