At about 7pm on May 8th, 2008 I started having contractions. It didn't really phase me since i had been having braxton hicks for about a week and was due for my next doctors appointment the following Monday, which was also my due date. At about 4am the next morning they were getting so strong that i could no longer sleep through them and was waking while having one, which was a real bother since they were coming every 20 to 30 minutes. I decided to go ahead and soak in a warm bath since before this had always seemed to stop the braxton hicks. Man was I in for a rude awakening.

Not only did they not go away as they had before, but they had gotten stronger, but had yet to get closer together so I tried to sleep through them and when I couldn't, I got up, leaving my husband snoring in the bed, and walked around the house, took the dogs out, decided to eat something, and finally settled back down in our bed and turned on the tv to watch the early news(by then it was almost 6).

I started timing my contractions as they went from 20-30 minutes to 15, then 10, then 5 minutes apart... finally I was almost in tears with the pain and the contractions had started becoming 3-5 minutes apart. I woke my Husband, told him to call in to work and call my doctor while I got my bags together and then made my one phone call to my mother. I was terrified of the birthing process. This was my first child, I'm young, I have a very low threshold for pain, had heard tons of horror stories, and had seen my sister have two difficult births, I needed my mommy.

By 8 am we were at the hospital. And when I say we, I mean me, my husband, and my mother who I could not have been without lol I sat in the lobby waiting to be seen for an hour and finally I was called back. I was finally being seen, but was told I was only 1 cen. dilated. The nurse told me to walk and if I hadn't made any changes I would be sent home. That alone almost made me cry. I did not want to go home. I was in pain and needed something, going home would just not do. My husband and I walked the hospital hoping for change as my mother waited for my sister to show up.

When I first announced my pregnancy, my sister had declared she would be there for the show since I had been there for the birth of my first nephew. Later she changed her tune and decided that she would be there, but in the waiting room. I guess the many times I had told her how weird it had been for me being there when she gave birth had sunk in, and she decided not to see the show after all lol

After walking the hosptial for a little over an hour, i went back to my triage room and waited to be seen again. The nurse came in and surprised me by telling me that they had to clean out a delivery room for me because I was staying. I had gone from 1 to 3 cent. dilated in just an hour. I was happy to hear that, but also a little scared because this was happeing. My in-laws showed up by then and even though I made my wishes known throughout my entire pregnancy that during this process I only wanted my hubby, mom and sister there (And later only th ehubby for the 'show') they refused to leave.

I wasn't about to start a fued now, especially since I wasn't even in the mood to converse. I begged for an epidural and was given one. Those of you who say it hurts, well it didn't for me. I hardly felt anything when they 'hooked' me up, and immediately i felt the pleasure of the epidural. It only lasted for about an hour. The pain suddenly came back full force on my right side, yet my left side was still numb. Shortly after I started to get sick to my stomach which I put down to the fact that I hadn't eaten anything all day and it was now around 5pm.

my doctor came in, broke my water, the pain increased on the right side and my epidural was redone, but all it did was cause my left side to go completely numb to the point where I couldn't even lift my left leg. After that, I have to say, everything was pretty much a blur. There was nothing to do for the pain and because i fear pain and have such a low threshold for it, well like I said, it's pretty blurred.

About 7:45pm, I felt the urge to push. I was checked and told I was 9 in half cent. dilated. I yelled for everyone to leave but my hubby and of course the doctor. The pushing began, and let me tell ya, my husband says it was the funniest and scariest thing he had ever heard or witnessed. I was groaning and moaning and screaming. Yes I was screaming, which I later apologized for and am still embarrassed about.

At 8:22pm on May 9th, 2008, my first born, Brody Clyde was born. He had dark brown hair (which is now a little reddish from his momma) and bright blue eyes (He still has these and were hoping he keeps them). He weighed 6 lbs and 12.10 oz and was 19 in a half inches long. He was perfect and healthy and we were and are very greatful for that.

So that was my birthing experience.

Bella was born on 4/11/08 after being induced.
I was due on 4/6/08 and she just didn't want to come out. The doctors decided to induce on 4/11/08. I went in for the induction at 7 a.m. and by 4:30 p.m. she was born. The labor and delivery went very smooth. I was given an epidural shortly after the pitocin was given. Then they broke my water. I really had no pain thanks to the great epidural. At around 4 p.m. I felt the urge to push and felt a few contractions and Bella was born.
