Default Any tips....

on how to make a resume look good? I am qualified to do basic secretarial work, but when I work on my resume or fill out applications, I want to scream. I know I'm smarter than what I look like on paper.

So, does anyone have good ways to make your resume look professional?

I also have limited jobs to list - which can be GOOD since it shows dedication. I have been at this job almost 18 years

but occassionally send out my resume for the fun of it.

I also take the interviews offered so that I stay "fresh" with what is being asked these days.

Anyway - I start with an "objective...goal" section. I list what I am looking for in a job...almost always stear this towards the job you are applying to.

Then of course I list my schooling and job information.

Then I have a "Computer Proficiency" section. Here, I list all the programs I am ..well, proficient in. Don't list things you just dabble in as they could test you.

If you know Macs and PC's, list that. Then list all the word programs, financial spreadsheets, e-mail programs, etc.

Then, I always, ALWAYS attach a cover letter. THIS!!! is where you get to blow your own horn. Talk as if you are SURE you will get an interview based on a..b..c...as seen in my resume.

I have probably have a few different cover letters if you want me to send a couple to you, just let me know.

Good luck!

I would love to see them! I really don't know how to write a good cover letter, so that would be very helpful!

I sent them to your e-mail addy on the CL board. Is that still the correct one or should I send them elsewhere?
