it's not something that they just "grow out of" according to the developmental ped. The course of treatment is drugs (prozac, zoloft) but i am NOT going to medicate my perfectly normal child who is a different person at home (never shuts up
 
) there is therapy but the Dr said that is usually not really effective with children this young and it could take hundreds and hundreds of sessions. So..for now we can try to ease any anxiety that she may have ..we never ask her about talking at school or any other place and we never force her to talk or say anything like "say hello to so and so" it's really hard but we try hard.

the other thing is that she has a million friends at school and all the kids LOVE her...they always fight about who is going to play with her
 
so that's good..she also has 6 or so friends outside of school that she plays with, talks to and is very social with..so it's really at school which is a high anxiety situtation. It's amazing that the kids want to play with her when she never talk to them

so..for now we wait and hope that it gets better
