Question yucky eye?

I've noticed the past couple of days that one of Cora's eyes keeps watering. Also by morning it is very goopy in both corners and along her eyelashes. Should I call her pediatrician or is this something that sometimes happens to babies? She rubs her eyes all the time with her hands, could that be the problem?

When we had that problem with Noah, it turned out to be pink eye. When you say goopy, how goopy? Noah's eye was covered and it had a green tinge to it. I don't think it hurts to call the ped just to make sure.

I'd call- my son had a lot of eye infections as a little one (ended up he had a blocked tear duct and had to have a minor procedure to correct it). They will probably give you some ointment (erythromycin or one of the newer drops like Vigamox ). It will clear up pretty quick with the meds.

Thanks ladies I'll call the nurses. Our pediatrician is out of the office for another week or so recovering from surgery so hopefully the nurse there can help me.

It isn't too goopy. It does have a yellowish color to it. For the most part her eye just waters during the day. Then in the morning I have to wipe off the goop from the corners and off her eyelashes. It's not tons of goop, but noticable. I also noticed that there was some dried on her cheek and ear - looks like it dripped down from her eye while she was sleeping.

I'd call the doctor to be sure, but Becca got that sometimes when she was smaller. Her doctor told us that it had to do with her tear duct (and I can't remember details now
 
), and to use a warm washcloth to keep the goop out.
