Dh called the peds and I guess they referred them right to the allergist. He has an appointment June 3. I wish it was before then-- the poor kid is miserable.

They are going to do the prick/scratch test. OMG. I'm glad I won't have to be there for that. Poor little Matthew.

Lincoln is allergic to cats. I haven't had him tested but I know he is because I am and so is my mom and my sister. We found out when he was about 2 and he went to FIL's who has several cats and his eyes swelled up and then his nose started running and then he ended up in the hospital for 3 day's. It turns out that he also had asthma and the allergies trigger it. He also has a few outdoor allergies just like me. I don't think i will bother testing him to find out what exactly he's allergic to because if it's outdoors then there is really nothing I can do to avoid it anyways other then keep him inside more. We do avoid cats and if someone has one he is not allowed to pet it and if he does touch it he has to go and wash his hands right away. And if his eyes start to swell up we leave and go home and change his clothes and give him a bath.
I also give him 1 teaspoon of the children's Zyrtec (claritin does not work for him) every morning when his allergies are acting up or if we are going to be going around someones house who has cats. I also make sure I have his inhaler with us at all times because allergies trigger the asthma, which causes these coughing wheezing fits until he has his inhaler. I really hope he is able to outgrow all of it. I hear most kids do.

I love my kitties but I always let guests know we have them so they can request confinement if needed. I respect that some people don't care for cats or are allergic.

Ha, I wish more people felt that way about their dogs. I agree. I have a cat too and we adore her but we put her away when there are people who dont' like cats or whatever.
