I love Matthew's preschool overall, and he loves it too, and loves his teacher. BUT there seems to be one big problem: communication. I know they told me at orientation that they would be doing the communication notebooks (the notebook stays in the child's bag and then parents and teachers can write back and forth) but the teacher said no, that's only for kids who can't talk.
So I bought a folder for his bookbag, and I tried writing a note last week, and she never looked in the folder. I had dh send him down the hall with the note in his hand, and she got it but never responded. Finally 2 days later she saw dh at pickup and answered him then.

Today, I wrote a note and asked dh to pin it to Matthew's shirt. Of course, he thought he knew better, so he pinned it to the outside of his bookbag. It clearly says her name on it. Sure as sh!t, he comes home with the note still pinned to his bookbag, never opened or read. So tomorrow he's going in with it pinned to his shirt. I know she's busy but seriously????

I'm reallly ready to call there and leave a message asking what is the best way to get a message to her. All I put on the note which is a half sheet of the kind top bound spiral notebooks is that Matthew is left-handed.
This was just a crappy day and not being able to talk to the teacher for anything is just making it more annoying, lol.

I don't understand why notebooks are only for non-verbal kids. Let's face it - kids in this age group are not well suited to relay communication between parents and teachers, no matter how verbal they are. I would never rely on Marek to tell the teacher he is left handed. He'd be more likely to tell her he's a left-handed batter.

I would see if you can arrange a phone conversation or meeting with her and brainstorm the best way to communicate.

I would be livid if I sent notes to the teacher and didn't get a response.
All my kids use the communication books at school- including Ryan, who's 9. His teacher didn't request one, but I find them so valuable.
I hope you get it sorted out.

I would be ticked to the max. Kids use the notebooks here too till 3rd grade and then they still have a folder you can write a specific note in and send to the teacher. AND we have their email addresses too.

Demand something change that is stupid!
