Sad to say - no. She has done this a few times where she gets so close and then completely resists. We are back in a complete resistance phase. She even has two sticker charts (one for 1 & one for 2) and each one is up to getting a surprise next time she goes and she hasnt gotten a sticker on either in a few days. We are completely laying off starting today and I am going to see what happens. Maybe she will be trained by her wedding!

ETA
She may be in big girl undies at night soon since she has been waking up dry for months. Beyond frustrating! We know she can do it she is just so strong willed that she won't do it until it is her idea.

Have you tried a prize box? I think I posted a pic of Matthew's chart.
I was pretty desperate. I went to Wal-Mart and maybe the dollar store and got junky prizes. Glitter glue, cars, one of those discs you put in water and it's a washcloth, cards, etc). I also dug into my beanie baby collection (might as well use them for something!) and I brought it out in front of him and showed him alllll of it. I think I had about 10-12 prizes. You might have to refill it. I put that prize box near the kitchen table, and dh and i would make comments about how cool the prizes were inside.

I'd probably make 1 chart for both pee and poop. If she does both, heck, give her 2 prizes. Then, the chart was a maze that matthew's picture moved along. Each trip to the potty, he got to move his picture (it was velcroed onto the chart and there were little velcro dots along the path). Then I put a picture of the big prize (a bike) at the end.

I think she might need more than just the big prize at the end. I know it's bribery, but we needed him to be trained!!!

Goodluck!!!!

Hey bribery is all good in it's place. When you have a strong willed child sometimes bargaining and bribery are neccessary evils.

Good luck Beth and let us know how it goes.

We have a prize box & big prizes. I started giving m&ms for poop on non prize times, she was getting a lolly after dinner on dry days. We had so many bribes and prizes that I could barely keep track. I had two separate charts bc the pee was no battle (before) but I needed to make it more enticing to poop. Her pee prizes are dollar store junk- her poop prizes are Thomas engines- she only has one more poop to get Percy And it has been like that for days.
I didn't bug her about it at all yesterday and she didn't ask to go until after dinner. When she pees she just changes her pullup and puts on new pants if she is wet through.
I am so frustrated with this whole process and so is dh, but we are doing our best to keep emotions out of it for her sake- everything is very matter of fact.
Thanks for reading- it feels good to vent it all out somewhere else since dh and I are so sick of talking about it!
