Default Conversation with my 3 1/2 year old

Sometimes, he acts like such a baby, but other times, he's just growing up so fast. Here's our conversation tonight, after he got sent to bed WITHOUT silly kisses (which always causes tears-- they love them) for being sassy after I told him his turn was second.

Matthew: Mommy, this is NOT fair! You sent me to bed without silly kisses!

Me: Yes, it is fair. Why can't you get a silly kiss?

Matthew: because I was being sassy. It's not fair! I really want a silly kiss.

Me: then next time, what should you do?

Matthew: Not be sassy, and listen. Mommy, I'm sorry for being sassy and not listening to you.

We said goodnight, and I went downstairs.

I hear he has switched his "nighttime music" on soft to the "daytime music" and on loud. So I shout up and tell him to put on his bedtime music and turn it down.

Matthew: um, I don't like bedtime music. It's boring. Sleep is boring. I want to play the playtime music. SLEEP IS BORING. I want to play. Do you hear me, sleep is boring.

Me: Good night matthew. Go to sleep.

Matthew: Goodnight mommy.

Oh, and I should add that I did give the child a "regular" kiss and hug, just not a "silly" kiss.

That is cute and good for you for sticking to your punishment. I know lots of people that end up giving in and letting them do whatever they took away anyway. He sounds like he has no problem in getting his point across to you on how he is feeling so thats good.

Very cute! I love the "do you hear me" part. It is amazing when we hear our kids repeating what we say to them!
