Default hi ladies

thans to dee for posting a bit of an update for me.. Things have been crazy. after all thats going on with Mike, last Tuesday my grammie had a severe stroke, which ended her life on Saturday. its been a rough week since this happened, trying and needing to work since mike is not, seeing my kids, and really wabting to sit by gram at the hospital her final days. i am totally exhausted ,and so extremely sad!

MY gram was 93, lived a healthy and long life, and i truly feel we lost her Tuesday after the stroke, the finsl days alive was simply not her! I am trying to find the right way to explain this to AVa, her and gram had a super relationship, and Ava asks about her all the time. Anyone have any help on how to explain death to this age?

anyhow, after the funeral wednesday i hope to bea ble to become a regular member again, i miss hearing about all the kids

thanks for your well wishes posted by Dee also

You have been through so much in the last little while Diane. I am truly sorry for your loss. I really don't know how you can/should explain it to Ava. Hopefully someone can help you with that. I hope things settle down for you soon.

When it rains, it pours! I am so sorry for your loss. I'm not sure how to explain death to a child this age.

I'm so sorry DIane.

Trying to explain death at this age is difficult. I don't know what your religious beliefs are; if it were Aislinn, I would say that Grammie got sick and her body stopped working and she was up in Heaven now, and that we would miss her very much. Acknowledge any feelings of sadness or loss that she or YOU feel, that's important to help her learn to grieve in a healthy way. She may continue to bring it up for a while, just to try to understand it. THere are many good books available for young children about death & loss. Maybe your local library could help you out.
