Knowing the principal Ages & Stages

Nicole is my social butterfly, but I was really surprised that the principal knew Nicole, but didn't know Kaitlyn. Oh, wait....is that really a good thing? lol

I don't think Josh's principal knows him, but at Matthew's school it's like he's a celebrity. Id say there are at least 400 kids in the school, and when I go there and ask for "Matthew Lastname" they always say, "OH, Matthew... I'll go right down to Miss Sally's and get him." They know him, and his teacher, and usually will comment to me about how cute or smart or funny he is.

I think it's a lot different from when we were all in school. Leslie joine the LSIC (local school improvement council) this year and had a lot of interaction with the principal. One of the things she has stressed is that talking to the principal or going to her office should not be only associated with getting in trouble. She encourages kids to stop in just to say high or to report anything to her. She really tries to know and interact with the kids.

Now when I was in school if you had anything to do with the principal that meant you were in deep sh!t, both at school and even more so when you got home!

Exactly!

I do notice shes very sociable. Kaitlyn mentioned to her that she sat in the Health class one day. Obviously, Kaitlyn knows who she is. I just think its funny that Kaitlyn has been in school longer, but the principal knows Nicole by name.
