Your daughter's size sounds a little on the small side, but still within normal range. The banging the head thing is concerning, though. There are some children who head-bang, but I think her age and the length of time you describe is worth a second opinion. I see you're in IL - are you near any major universities/university hospitals? Try to find a pediatrician who's on staff at a univeristy hospital, or see if there's a child development/early intervention program offered by a university, your local health department or school system.

Good luck.

My oldest daughter was/is tiny. She's 8 weights right around 40lbs. The older she gets the closer she gets to catchign up with her peers. When she was a year old she barly weighed 15lbs. DHS got involved and checked her for everythign under the sun to see if we were underfeeding her and they couldn't find anything wrong. She's just small.
I would be concerned about the head banging though. Is she developing normal otherwise? Is it something where she does it and laughs? My son went through a short phase of that. My son has sensory issues and we have been learning about how to redirect his needs for physical stimulation. He likes to throw himself on the floor. So we got him a slide and that takes care of that need for him. You might try rocking her when she starts the head banging.

The head banging is concerning. I would get a second opinion about that. My oldest just turned three and she is 31 lbs and 40.6 inches tall.
