Originally Cora's school told us she just needed to be up to date on all of her shots to go to preschool. So I turned in the form and the school nurse called and told us she can not attend until she gets her pre-k shots ... UGH! She has an appointment to get them tomorrow afternoon and I'm stressing big time about it. I know she'll be hysterical, but it will only last a few minutes. Dh is coming with us so he can help her to hold still. I plan on telling her about it tomorrow around lunch time so she knows what's going on and why she needs the shots. It's such a bummer that we have to get them done because she had her first fantastic visit at her 4 year well check and hardly cried.

Has anyone else done the pre-k shots yet? How did it go?

I don't know them by "pre-k shots." Which ones does she need?

oh sorry - just the big bundle of shots that are required before they can go to kindy. I think there are 4 or 5 shots. I know chicken pox is one of them. I can't remember the other ones this morning sorry! Once I really wake up I'll add the names of the other shots.

Aislinn had chicken pox and her last polio shot at her 4 y.o. check-up this summer. I'm not sure what else she'll need before heading to K next year.

Julia has an appointment scheduled for all of this on Thursday. I'm not sure which shots she's going to need, I know she has had a lot of them ?????

Here is the list of preschool requirments from the Peoria County Health Dept:
-a physical exam
-4 DTaP shots (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
-3 Polio shots
-1 HIB shot (Meningitis) (1 or more doses)
-1 MMR shot (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
-3 Hepatitis B shots
-1 Varicella (Chicken Po or proof of having the disease
-TB screening
-Lead screening

I am delaying the Chicken Pox vaccine for another year (possibly two). I spoke to the school and my doctor and in order for her to enter preschool without that vaccine I just have to sign a waiver stating we are delaying it. Jen, please post which shots Cora is getting today so I have an idea of what we're in for on Thursday. Good luck! I hope all goes well.
