in a really bad way. I was on my way to the school. Got to the 1st intersection and cop directing traffic makes me turn left. So I go down to hit the back way. Oops another cop making me turn left away from the school. So I inform him I need to get to the school. He says NO go, bad accident at the entrance to the school. NO one is allowed to travel the highway for that 2 mile stretch. So we sit and sit and sit and sit for over 1.5 hours. I was on my way around 2:15 when this happened. School releases at 2:25. I finally got to the school at 3:30 PM. Then I had to wait 15 more minutes to get back out to head home.

Anyway a good friend of ours, her child is Brent's age, they play ball together etc... her grandfather was on his way to pick up her cousin's son and ran the stop sign, a car coming down the highway at 55 MPH hit him dead in the drivers door. He is in surgery now but he stopped breathing at the scene etc.. firetrucks, ambulances, wreckers etc all over the place.

I hope he's OK. The other people in the car that hit him were OK they said. Boy what a day for the kids who could see the wreck in front of the school and all the parents anxious to see their little ones and then to find out it was our friends Grandfather. Ugh.

The poor man and his family and the poor kids waiting to be picked up and poor parents who were delayed getting their kids.

Do your kids understand what happened? Are they ok?

yes we talked about it. They could see the accident but didn't know how bad it was. I'm not sure if the child that was being picked up by the grandfather knew it was him or not.
