Default Annie's Doctor Appointment

The doctor checked her out and saw that her vaginal opening is adhering closed. He said it's not totally uncommon, and usually when a girl starts producing hormones as she grows it corrects itself. Since it seems to be bothering her, he prescribed a hormone cream that we can apply that should help.

It was a very strange experience. As I was explaining the situation to the nurse she got the strangest look on her face. I know she thought Annie was being abused. When the doctor came in the first thing he asked was if she had big brothers. I knew in my heart that she was not being abused, but there was just a little hint of a worry there. It was such a relief to have an easy diagnosis. I can't imagine what it must feel like to be told your child is being abused, I just got a small taste of what it must be like.

I'm so relieved that it's nothing serious. And you're right, just the thought that your child could have been abused, it's too horrible to contemplate.

I know how difficult that must have been for you. And you know I couldn't help myslef wondering the same thing when you posted the first time, but I sometimes tend to get a little worried about issues like that just because I have worked with kids who have sexually abused. I am so thankful that it is nothing too serious and that the doctor calmed your's and her nerves!
