Well I don't know what competitions you went to but the ones we're at like Hollywood Vibe, NRG , LA Dance Magic everyone wears the 2 piece costumes for Jazz numbers.

We did have a couple two piece costumes... they just weren't booty shorts and bra tops... I just feel like kids shouldn't have to wear things like that... they should be kids... that is just my 2 cents though... everyone has an opinion and that's mine... didn't mean to offend yah...

nah you didn't.

I don't have a problem with the costumes but then again Brooke is slim trim and muscular. I think it looks bad for the kids that really don't have the body for it and sadly that is a lot of kids these days. Not that I want her dressing trashy at all.

I don't buy a lot of the things she wants from Justice and other places simply because of the trash factor.

My very 1st dance costume (back 1990) was a 2 piece, but it was a crop top/sports bra with calf-length legging-type of pants. I can't remember if we helped pick them out; I know when we got older the teachers would let us look through the magazines, but she usually had the choices of what she liked for our dance and we would get to weigh in on it.

Brooke's costumes sound cute, especially the hip hop one, but I can agree that now that I am older and a mom of a little girl, the other 2 seem a little skimpy...but that is without seeing them on the girls and not having mine in any sort of activity yet. I don't know how I feel when/if she starts taking dance. Heck, we said we would not buy her a 2 piece bathing suit, but then this past summer, we did! After seeing a cute Minnie Mouse one that she wanted and trying to take her to the bathroom with a one-piece, I relented and let her have it, lol.

Oh, and I remember how awful I felt for the bigger girls that had to wear the same outfits as the skinny girls. When we were older it was easier for them to voice their objections. My own lil sister was pretty chunky as a kid and she had to wear some tight costumes!

yes it totally is not fair. I will say our dance instructor / owner is mindful of that and the Jr age group where the girls are just turning 12 -14 is where most of them are having the more belly fat. I think it's before puberty really hits with a growth spurt.
