Are your kids expected to do chores? What type of things do they do and what ages are they?

Do they get paid for them or not?

Yep- all the kids have chores. If they don't do them- no allowance.

Each of the little kids (6,8,9) are responsible for making their beds, putting dirty clothes in the hamper, cleaning up after craft activities/drawing/playing with toys and taking their dirty dishes to the countertop. They are also responsible for getting dressed and brushing their teeth before school- all this has to be done before they do anything else (play/color/watch TV, etc).
dd Katie (19) keeps her room cleaned and does her own laundry- and cooks dinner from time to time.

My kids rotate some chores but a few are specific to each of them.

They make their own beds, brush teeth, put PJ's and other clothes away, feed the pets, clean up the playroom, take the trash out , strip their beds and bring towels to laundry room on Sat. morning.

My two have never had chores, but that is changing as soon as we get back from vacation. This house is too big and they are too big not to have some more responsibility around the house. Especially DD. She has had a friend over every day the past week. She makes the mess, she needs to learn to clean it up.

We won't be doing allowances yet though. Maybe next year.

DH and I were just discussing making official chores for Ryan and giving him a small allowance for doing them. Right now we just expect him to do certain things like pick up the playroom, carry dishes to sink, keep room picked up, etc.
