Girl scouts Ages & Stages

A mom that I know is a GS leader, so I stopped at her house yesterday to pick up paperwork. They have a meeting this friday and plan on taking Kaitlyn with me. Im hoping once she sees at least 3 of her friends in the troop, she will change her mind. Shes such a homebody and hoping this will be something she will enjoy doing. I wanted to put her into cheerleading, but shes not outgoing, so dont think that would be good for her.

Girl Scouts is a wonderful option for kids who aren't terribly outgoing, because the structure of the troop meetings and activities gets everybody participating without the kind of down time that leads to some kids getting excluded. I was a Girl Scout for 9 years and absolutely loved it.

dd Katie was very shy. She joined Girl Guides and really enjoyed it.

Kaitlyn did not want to go to the meeting tonight. I told her that we will try it out and if she doesnt like it, then she doesnt have to join, but just try. She saw a few girls and smiled and said, "i know everyone". She had a great time and I knew that after the meeting was over w/ a smile on her face. I asked if she wanted to come back again and wear those vest like the other girls and she said yes. She already asked how many more days til the next GS meeting. Now..I need to get a Daisy vest!
