Default For picky eaters I have a question

only because this has reared it's head recently at my house. We have some friends that their kids are very picky. These kids are not little either they are 8, 6.5 and 6 (different families ) but we invite them over. I make decent meals or even we grill burgers , hotdogs have chips, dips fruit, cheese tray. Or I make spaghetti, salads , bread etc...

These 3 kids never ever ever eat a thing but I totally blame the parents. Instead of coming over and letting them eat what's on the menu they stop and get them something like chicken fingers or they make them a PBJ sandwich.

I say at that age unless you have some serious food issues or allergies you need to suck it up and try other things. What really makes it bad is these same kids want to come over and spend the night or whatever and I feel like I need to be a shortorder cook to them. Like the one girl won't eat anything but chicken NOTHING not even a sandwich. I don't even want them to be over it's too stressful.

So what do you do about your picky eaters when they go to someones house for dinner or spend the night?

I totally agree with you and around here "you get what you get and you don't get upset". Thankfully they aren't too picky so we can work around it...but if we are a guest in someone's home I would never expect that host to work around it nor allow them to make something for them either (allergies aside of course).

I don't want to come across mean about it but these people are over at our house a lot and ride the bus home with my kids etc.

For instance Randy had 2 of them last week after school. They were *starving* but refused to eat apples, banana, yogurt, cheese and kept on and on like 2 year olds saying " we want chips, that's what we eat at home" Randy is a harda$$ and told them tough then they could wait till their mother picked them up.

Oh and Halloween night the little girl that is 6.5 had the nerve to say " why didn' t you make chocolate cupcakes I don't eat the white ones".

Her Dad was an A$$ that night too so they left early and I'm not really speaking to them right now. I've put myself in timeout from them.

to Randy

I don't think you are being a hard *ss at all...

:roflmao: at your timeout. I was gonna ask what do the parents say when these kids act like that...I know they weren't there in the Randy situation but the cupcake one : My kids would have been in SO much trouble for those manners...kids will be kids...but 6.5 should know to not say something like that.

I can't stand it, my nephew is this way and it is because his mother allows it (and all the other 5 adults that live in his house, they still live @ my parents) I tell him too bad eat it, and my parent(when they bring him) will bring things he will eat or one time my mom told me not to make the mashed potatoes to runny, I looked at her like she was crazy and she took over making them then when we sat down for dinner my nephew rolled balls out of the mashed tatos and ate them like that. I was shocked. I will make what is for dinner and if you don't like it go to bed hungery, that is how I am with my kids.
