Default 15 month well child

John went for his well child today. He of course had another ear infection, which I sort of suspected, but he's scheduled to get tubes on June 18th. This makes 7 infections in 5 months!!!

Anyway, he was 21 pounds, 30.25 inches and I can't remember his head other that it was big as usual. LOL He fell to the 8th percentile for weight from the 14th, but hte doc didn't really make a big deal, just said keep feeding him!

She did point out that his upper lip frenulum came down around his gum and was the cause of the huge gap in his two front teeth. She said we need to watch it and I should ask the ENT what they thought and she might refer him to a pediatric dentist. She said that it may cause problems with his permanent teeth. I'm attaching a pic that shows his gap. It's pretty big, but I hadn't noticed how far down his frenulum came.

He got his shots and got his iron tested again. They are also testing his blood for platlets and stuff b/c he bled an excessive amount when they pricked his finger. He was flinging blood everywhere! He didn't cry when they pricked him or gave him the shots, only when they tried to put pressure on his finger to stop the bleeding, go figure!

Other than that she said things were good. He was developmentally doing great. We just have to watch his mouth and weight, and hopefully the ENT will fix the ear problem!

Glad to hear John is doing so well, but sorry to hear about the ear infections! I don't see a pic attached?? Hopefully his frenulum is no big deal! I can't wait to see a recent pic of him- can't believe he's already 15 months!

Wow, what a big boy!

We did the ear infection thing with our second and she needed ear tubes. It was a simple procedure and helped a lot!

I'm interested to hear more about the frenulum thing--I've never heard about that happening.

Thanks for the update! When did they get so big???

Duh! I got sidetracked and forgot to add the pic!!! And now it's "encountering an upload error"! Oh well. Are you on FB? I upload pics there weekly!

Deanna, I don't know WHEN this happened!!! He's so grown up!!!

I noticed this morning that sometime since the dr appt, he has busted his frenulum, and it is bleeding some and has a blood blister on it, which makes me wonder even more, if it could become an issue. It's so short that I feel like he'll tear it since he's so clumsy. I'm going to talk to the ped about it a little more.
