18-month-old will not sleep!

  • I thought I was so lucky when my daughter was sleeping through the night at 8 weeks! By 5 months she wasn't anymore and pretty much never has since. The past couple of weeks have been especially bad. She's up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours all night long. Her daytime naps have been about 1-2 hours total. She's crabby ALL THE TIME!!

She is teething, but we've given her stuff to help with that and it makes no difference.

The last time I talked to her doctor she felt it was a phase and said she would grow out of it, but it's only gotten worse lately. She is due for her check up and I plan to ask her doctor about it again, but in the meantime does anyone have any suggestions?

She will not just cry, she will scream until she hoarse and coughing/gagging like she's going to throw up. We've tried letting her cry it out but she has cried and screamed for more than an hour when we've done that. I don't know what else to try at this point.
