Since my kids are in Montessori school, hand washing is actually considered a job.

It was on their monthly schedule once as a lesson, too. I have heard the teachers asking the children to wash their hands before sitting down for breakfast. After recess, they line up, go inside, wash their hands, and sit down for lunch.

we're in public school-- a great one.... and it's a job there too! my 1st grader has it his 'daily job' schedule- the kids line up before snack and lunch and all get a squirt of sanitizer- it's someone's job to do that.... on bathroom breaks and after recess they all wash their hands....

i think it's easier to control kindergartners and preschoolers-- then after that the novelty of hand washing wears off and I think this is where sanitizer helps us out big time!
