Default Biting

Avery has started trying to bite when she gets extremely mad at us.

Anyone else's little ones doing this? What do I do to fix it? Bite her back? Smack her mouth? Smack her hand? Nothing at all?

Bite her back but not meanly or in anger. Show her it hurts and it's bad. Then use time out.

Biting back doesn't help. Marek was a big biter (only bit us, not other kids or adults), and biting him back just made him do it more. I just gave him a really loud "No biting" and redirected him. Time outs also don't work at this age - most kids just don't get it.

By the way, Marek outgrew the biting just after age 2.

What types of punishment work at this age? Clearly nothing I've used is working because she is a holy terror anymore...

She just started biting? Kendall started doing it a couple months ago! She hardly ever actually bites us though, b/c when she does do it she opens her mouth wide & shakes her head back & forth, so you know what's coming nad you can move your arm/hand/shoulder out of the way! She does it when you take her away from something she isn't supposed to be touching or take something away, etc.
