Unhappy Congestion and teething

Joseph seems to be getting an upper tooth in. I can't see or feel anything yet but he's doing the crazy drooling again and has been seen tugging his ear. Also he's woken in the middle of the night the last couple of nights.
The problem I have with this is that he seems very congested. He shows no other signs of a cold so I was wondering if teething especially the upper teeth can cause the sinuses to go nuts and create a lot of drainage. It makes sense if the ears are affected by teething then so would the sinuses.
I have used his little nose sucker and given him the saline drops to help him sleep as well as raising one end of his mattress. Any other tips for congestion? Anyone else have this issue when teething?

:lurking: DD had terrible congestion while teething her first few teeth. She also had terrible poop, but hopefully you and your LO are not faling victim to that one!
Unfortunately I think you are doing all you can for teh congestion. At his age there are no approved/safe decongestants. Once he is older there are some allergy meds that are able to be used, but I think they are for bebies over 9 or 12 months old.
Good Luck!!

Poor little buddy.

Try the cool mist humidifier in his room at night; that should help some, too. Hopefully that tooth pops in soon and he gets some relief.

Oh we've been doing the humidifier in his room since the day he was brought home. He popped out so fast when he was born he didn't have time to get all the junk squeezed out so he was congested then. Thanks ladies.

My girls were the same when teething. I really liked the Hylands teething tablets, but of course those don't help the congestion.
