Default Connor's at soccer camp this week

It's supposed to be 101 today, and close to 100 every day this week. It's at a brand new park that doesn't have any trees, just one aluminum cover over the picnic tables is the only shade. He's there from 9am - 3pm.

Again, I drove away feeling like the worst mother in the world.

If he hates it I may have to call some of my stay-at-home mom friends to take him a couple of days during the week. I hate doing that.

I hate working mother guilt!

Aww Diane don't feel like a bad mother. They will probably hose the kids down once in a while to keep them cool.

Most of the camps here (activity/sport camps) are outside and the muggy heat of the South is horrible. Don't feel bad, they should know how to handle outside activity in extreme heat. See how it goes today and then evaluate.

You're definitely not a bad mother - in fact you're a terrific mother for allowing Connor to sign up for these things and making it happen. My kids do a couple of camps each summer and for some reason it's always been in the 90s the week of soccer camp. The staff has always been great about getting the kids in the shade for breaks and cooling them off with hoses or whatever. Don't worry, he'll do great. Kids don't even notice the heat like we do.

So, now I just realized it's Tuesday already!

He did fine yesterday. He was actually more concerned about his feet than the heat, he wore his soccer cleats from last year and they were too small and rubbed a blister. I gave him the option of trying to find somewhere else, but he wanted to go back today, so we got him ne cleats last night. And, luckily, they revised the week's forecast, so after today it should be down in the low 90's, which is more typical for this time of year.
