Cool the dreded invatiotion....

came home today. Destiny brought home an invite that all the girls in her class got, for them & mom to come have cookies and punch and talk with the nurse about.... menstration/ "getting there period" <---- that is how the invite puts it.

I know I am not ready for this but I am aware that kids theese days are growing up faster then we did and DD needs to be prepared.

so we will probably go but this means I need to admit my baby girl is growing up.

wow - the time has come already!

I think it's great that it's an invitation to attend WITH parents.
my school when I was a kid just did it during schooltime without parents. (and they separated girls and boys).

I was thinking that this might be a good (but very HARD) subject to address with my girl scout troop in the next couple years.

I too had it with just kids at school, this isn't the full SEX talk , I don't think. Just to prepare them about getting there periods. I never really had any talks with my mom, I was at my aunts when I got my first period, and I had an older sister in the house so there were already pads in the house so I never had to ask her to buy them. I don't know if the boys are doing anything.
I too was thinking about doing it with the scout troop but I have such a wide age range right now. you might be able to get a nurse come talk to them, this is the RN at the clinic that comes in and is the school nurse,

Wow, I think it's great that the school does this. And I don't think it's too young at all. I got my period when I was 10, it would have been nice to have something like this when I was a kid. But I know, hard to see that your baby is growing up.

My girls have known for a few years now. I've heard too many stories of girls getting it at 9 & being scared to death of dying because they had no idea. So I made sure my girls know about it.

I like that the school does that with moms.

I was in the office one day & saw the nurse sorting out a shipment that included sanitary supplies. I wonder how many 1st time girls she gets in there that don't know what it is.
