Thanks for the info Tracy. Her oposition to a hysterectomy makes more sense now.

A little more info for those who want it. They think its a fibroid but are not positive. She is going to try to get a 2nd opinion on her options with a doctor who was recomended by a friend who had numerous procedures done by him. The tumor is about the size of a grapefruit & her uterus is about the size of a woman 20wks pregnant so something needs to be done. Its also causing her lower back pain.

Okay - Sharyn I have to reply to this - seeing that I am almost two years post hysterectomy now....

As for the sex drive - Tracy's comments are not correct - actually our sex life has never been better and orgasm sensation has not diminshed for me at all - nor have I had problems achieving them...

My doctor left my ovaries and I have not had to worry about hormone replacement therapy. He did say that I might only get five years before he would have to take the ovaries but it is better than nothing.

I have absolutely no regrets and for me it was the best possible thing for me and a great decision.

K

As for the sex drive, "Tracy's comments" are correct according to the people she has known with hysteros. My cousin had the same thing - A grapefruit-sized fibroid that made her look 5 months pg. It was miserable. Had she known though that she would feel the way she does now, she would've looked for another treatment. If there are no other alternatives, then one has to do what one has to do.

I think it's wonderful that you had such great results, "K", but not everyone does, and I was merely sharing that information, as many times doctors don't.

Well it turns out she IS thinking about having another baby. That changes the circumstances a lot.
