Unhappy How am I supposed to do this???

Oh ladies, I am so frustrated. So my childcare search has begun and I am so stressed out about it. I am scheduled to start back at Disney on Oct. 11th. They moved it for me so that I had more time to set things up. I have to find someone to watch Maya from about 8 hours a day and then find someone (maybe the same childcare person) to pick up Tehya from school at 2:30. How do working parents manage this? I am waiting for one lady to call me back who can do both but she is my only hope. If she cannot take Maya or pick up Tehya then I don't even know what to do next. We cannot afford a Nanny so that is out of the question. My Mom can help out to a certain extent but she still works -- she is a very busy Architect. Can someone offer some advice? Or maybe even just send me a HUG!!!

Does Tehya's school have a before/after school program? That's what Daniel does and Josh goes to a separate day care. Maybe that might be an option? Around here, many local day cares drop off and pick up kids from school (or the bus actually stops at day care). I'm not sure if you really want to find an actual "center" but it might be worth checking out!

(((HUGS!))) I know it's frustrating!!!

Bexx, I can totally relate! I have struggled so much with day care since I went back to work. I didn't try to have my kids at the same place though. Does Tehya's school offer an after-school care program on the campus? That might be the easiest for her. I ended up putting Annie in a day care center because I went through three home day cares that just didn't work out.

I have a feeling day care and after-school care is going to be an on-going struggle. But just keep looking, ask every one you know for referrals and make lots of phone calls, that's what I did. It's not fun, it's very stressful, but it will all work out in the end.

(((((Big hugs))))) Bekkie!
I agree with Diane you need to just start going thru the phone book & maybe something like the PennySaver & make lots of phone calls. I've seen vans from childcare agencies around here that p/u after school so maybe thats an option.

Are you trying to find a homecare provider? The really good thing about a day care center instead of a home care situtation is you don't have to worry about the provider ever being sick. That was my biggest problem when I had a babysitter come to my home, what to do when she was sick.

I hope you can find something you are comfortable with soon.

thank you girls! Unfortunately, our school provides after school care for 1st grade and above. Good news is I found someone who can possibly care for Maya and pick up Tehya from school!!!! Details to follow soon, we are meeting with her tomorrow night. She runs a daycare out of her home and has been doing so for many years! Wish us luck!!!
