Default Kendall may have a UTI!

Kendall has been sick all weekend, fever going up & down, appetite waning, among other things. I took her to the doc yesterday and was there for almost 4 hours! 2 of them were waiting for her to pee in a urine bag, but she wouldn't drink anything so it took awhile. We got anitibiotics to give her that we started yesterday. They did a urialysis & took blood yesterday, both showed white blood cells. The doc said it was not enough to be considered really bad, but he did think it was an early UTI and said they were going to take a sample of her urine to grow germs in & see what they get. My poor little baby! Of course, I looked it up on WebMd and freaked myself out w/stuff about kidney problems, high blood pressure, and surgery to fix a possible bladder problem!

Has anyone else's little ones ever had a UTI? Am I freaking out over nothing?

It's a good sign against any kind of reflux diagnosis that she is over a year old and has not had a UTI before. The great likelihood is that if she had some of the other issues you saw on the other sites, she'd have an infection before now. Our daughter DID have reflux and we went through all the stuff you read about---

---but she was also 6 weeks old at the time of her first infection (and she had 8 infections by the time she was 6 months old.

Kendall hasn't had any issues before now, right? So it is VERY likely that it's an isolated infection and a round of antibiotics will clear her right up.

Hang in there and try not to scour the internet for the worst case scenarios.

No, no UTI's before. Just a case of roseola when she was about 9 or 10 months old.

The results came back today & it was positive for a UTI. I have to take her back in for a uranalysis tomorrow morning to see if the medicine is working & the doc may also send us for an ultrasound so we can rule out any reflux issues. She has been acting better lately, still not eating like normal, but at least she was drinking yesterday.
