It's marvelous what a kiss can do,
A kiss can cheer her when she's blue.
A kiss can say "I love you so"
or "Gee! I hate to see you go."
A kiss is, "Welcome back again"
and "Great to see you" or "Where've you been?"
A kiss can smoothe our small child's pain
And bring a rainbow after rain.
The kiss! There's just no doubt about it,
She scarcely can survive without it.
A kiss delights and warms and charms,
It must be why God gave us arms.
Kisses are great for fathers and mothers,
Sweet for sisters and swell for brothers,
and chances are some favorite aunts
love them more than potted plants.
A kiss can break the language barrier.
No need to fret if mobbed by terrier.
The more you give, the more you get.
So strech those arms without delay
and give your little girl a kiss today.

She notes at the bottom of this poem that she penned this message to her husband, Paul. He felt that perhaps affection would spoil a baby. He had not been exposed to kisses as a child.
