Default Looking for a home is no fun....

I had not remembered how awful this process is. We are having a horrible time finding a nice home, in a GREAT school district for our price range. I have a really nice home now, and I don't want to get less for much more money!

Our house is almost ready to go on the market but honestly we keep backing off from it because we haven't found enough out there for us to buy. There are a few homes that we could make bids if we had to but they certaintly aren't the "bomb!"

That being said, we are realistic and understand we are not going to get everything we want, we just want to feel like it is a good and smart move for everyone.

We are also playing around with where to move...we want to stay in our county so Alex can go to a charter middle school, but our county is the most expensive, with the most expensive taxes, and there are two other counties with less expensive taxes but equally good schools. It's tempting for us to make a bigger move, but it will be harder for us all to adjust.

Just venting, I wanted to update you all on the situation!

I was wondering how things were going. You are right, finding the right home is not easy. Just keep looking! The perfect house is out there somewhere!

I wish there was some way to make it easier for you

Wouldn't it be great to be able to build a house exactly the way you want it to be!

I know exactly what you mean. We have been looking off and on for the last year. We want something with a bit more property, but that is sooo expensive here, and there is nothing out there. Our house is so so nice and everything we've been looking at in our price range is in horrible disrepair, way too small, too far out in the boonies, a manufactured home (can you imagine paying more than half a million for a manufactured home?) etc. I know we are going to have to make concessions, but...

I hope you find the PERFECT house, you'll know it when you see it. I keep telling myself that I know its out there and then we'll know moving is the rigth thing to do.

I too, feel your pain. I am in a little bit different situation though. I am not in love with my current house. Our current school district is not considered so great (even though I do like the elem school that Hannah is in now...it is the M.S. that would be an issue) We are looking for houses in a VERY nice community with great schools...but the commute will be rough for DH and still the houses are expensive. (we are having a hard time finding a decent house for under $750,000

...
it really makes me want to

The thought of getting my house ready for the market makes me shudder...
