Default Melissa... Bus Update?

Melissa,

Did you ever find out what the bus issue was? Did Daniel ride it this morning?

Well, I didn't really find out what the problem was for sure, but here are a few things he mentioned.

1. The kids on bus 10 (which is in front of them when they get to school) tease the kids on his bus by sticking out their tongues and waving the hands on their heads kind of thing. I told him, "Just don't look at them."

2. No one wants to sit with him. So I asked, "Do you ask anyone to sit with you?". His response, "No." So I asked, "Why don't you sit with someone?" His response "Because I like to sit in my favorite spot."

3. The bus is noisy and scary.

4. The bus drops him off at the wrong door. (It does go to the side of the school, instead of in front, so I think he thinks that's the wrong place).

5. He didn't get to say goodbye to me and Josh yesterday. (We left before he woke up and I didn't want to wake him up early just to say goodbye! - Bad move mom!)

6. He doesn't have time to say goodbye when the bus comes. (Yea, whatever! He's making up excuses at this point!)

That's about it. He did ride the bus this morning, but not without some major proding by Dh and several other dh's, mom's and grandparents at the bus stop!

We'll keep talking about it and see how things go.

He did get in trouble twice at school yesterday. His bus was moved to red (from green and yellow - the teachers discipline tool). Dh was NOT happy about that last night. Hopefully today will be better!

I do hope it goes better today for him. Everything is so new and different - it takes some time.

Aw man... poor dude... he has lots of worries about the bus. I hope it improves for him. I imagine its stressful for you and DH too.

Sorry he got in trouble. Brandon's teacher has the same sort of discipline system.

I hope the bus stuff does get better. School is much stricter than preschool and I find that many kids get in trouble for a few weeks until they learn the lay of the land. Find out if they give warnings before they go on yellow, some teachers do and I think it helps. At our school if you get on red, you go to the Assistant Principal's office!
