Default Update on Brady- and I think we're here now!

I think Brady is officially a toddler now. He has been walking for a few weeks now.

His 1 year check up went ok. He weighs something like 25 lbs, and i think dh said he is 32 inches long.

The doctor says that brady has flat feet and will need orthotics eventually. he said for now, to buy him real shoes with a "bump" in the middle, aka arch support. DH had noticed he had trouble walking with his shoes off and was going to ask about it, but before he could the ped said "I bet he has trouble walking with his shoes off."

Does this mean he won't be a good athlete? I mean I dont need him being a gold medalist, but will he have trouble running and stuff? I have no experience with this.

Welcome to the toddlers board! I'm in the process of getting a blinkie together for the new combined board, so post a picture on that stickie.

I don't think flat feet will keep him from being a good athlete. I've known runners with flat feet. I think the main thing is the orthotics keep the lack of arch from causing other problems (back pain, knee damage, etc.)

I was going to join here too-Michael has been walking for about a week and a half now-his first birthday and 1 yr checkup are both Friday.
Sounds like Brady is doing great-dh has pretty flat feet and just needs orthodics to run with. He has been very athletic-he played soccer, roller hockey, baseball and basketball and also does triathlons and half-marathons.

YAY! SO glad to see some new faces here. Brady sounds like he's doing great. I know alot of people in the military have flat feet and they have to have special boots for marching.
