Default Update on DH

Doug(DH) is doing very well. He still is in his first 24 hour critical window. He was awake this morning and off the vent , breathing on his own. In pain but better then not breathing so we're dealing. Haven't seen or talked to the Dr. yet but today sometime I will. No idea when he'll be well enough to be in a regular room.He talked to me and squeezed my hand and lifted his arms and moved his legs so motor functions are working well. Not sure how well he's swallowing they have a spit sucker for him and he is aware of it and uses it when needed.
We have been blessed for such recovery so quickly. God bless the paramedics and er doctors. Please keep praying. Every hour and every function is a battle won.

My mom lives with us and is luckily on a work sabbatical. My niece is coming up today to help and Doug's parents are flying out right now. Plus my church and his work have promised to help find babysitters as needed. He is so lucky his boss told me that their VP authorized managerial discretionary time off and it won't take away from his PTO. This should be in effect until we get long and short term disability figured out and in the works. His boss is handling all that right now.

I will certainly keep him in my prayers but I'm so happy to hear good news and it sounds like he and you have a wonderful support system.
