Default What do you do when you can't stand somebody's kid?

I have this other friend I love. She is a dingbat sometimes but really sweet. Problem is her DD is out of control. She is 5 yrs old & mom has NO control over her. She is a brat, pushes, will not listen to anybody, tells me no right to my face if I tell her to stop doing something, constantly has her finger up her nose, etc.

I've been avoiding getting together because I don't want Leanna around her DD. Any suggestions for dealing with this brat kid?

Well, Sharyn, that's a tough one. Honestly, if I don't like the child and the she's a bad influence on my children, I tend to just avoid them. There's a family like that at our church, I really like the mom, but she's got 4 out of control children, with no boundaries, I wish I could be friends with the mom, but have avoided it because of the kids.

Maybe you can do some one/one time with your friend shopping or going to movies without the kids.

:lurking: I am having the same problem here. The problem is that the Mom is so persistant that we get our kids together.

Yep, we have that problem, too. Only in our case it is my niece/goddaughter and nephew. They are completely out of control brats. Can't avoid family forever, so after spending a day with them, we just spend the next several days undoing any new behavior we see from our kids. Brad and Liz are old enough to understand when we tell them that Brittany is not a good example sometimes. It's a bit more confusing for Andrew.

I have no advice, just put up with it or see your friend alone (adult time!).
