Smile Another Ethan update

Finally some good news on Ethan. He was seen by a pediatric opthamologist and finally we have ruled out Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (he has a bleeding disorder that is also seen in that syndrome.) Whew! His eyes looked good, except he was a bit less farsighted than most toddlers his age, and will probably end up in glasses for nearsightedness in a few years (just like Mom and big brother.) Poor guy has been battling a stomach virus (and now Noah has it) and has had three doctor appts this week - plus one more tomorrow. I've been pulling all of his labwork together and will be reviewing it with the immunologist - hoping for answers still but seems like I keep ending up with more questions. Anyhow, potty training is slowly progressing. I really want to switch to underwear (been doing pullups for a while) but with all the illness, and if history is any indication he is usually sick almost nonstop from late Oct to early April, so I may wait. He is quite the chatterbox, and lately has taken to calling me "honey". He loves to role-play, and usually he is Mommy and I am "honey" - (or I am Ethan). His other one is that he is the doctor, and I am Ethan. It gives him a way to express his feelings about all the stuff he has going on, so I tolerate the checkups (which can be quite interesting - ever had your tempature taken with a book, or your ears checked with lollypops? ) He had to come to work with me the other day when he was sick and I couldn't miss work, and even ill he charmed everyone.

Glad to hear that Ethan is doing better! Hopefully the new immunologist will have some fresh perspective and get an answer for you. We're still at a stand still on potty training too, going to start a new "attack" in November.
