An old friend of mine was always carsick. The only way they were able to take vacations of any length was to drug her. I forget the name of the stuff but it basically knocked her out for hours on end but it was better than her being sick non stop.

They sell these things that put pressue on the inner wrist. Its not a drug but uses accupressure. A bunch of people wore them on the whale watch trip with no seasickness.

My parents used those for their last cruise with good results.

I used to get car sick too- mostly on longer rides, I try to sleep. It's better now that I'm the grownup and have dibs on the front seat.
