Thumbs down I'm starting to be frustrated

Sarah's surgery is supposedly scheduled for Monday Nov. 3rd.
That's less than a week away!

I was told that they'd be mailing me info and that they'd work backwards on the date and all the other things that need to be done get done based on the surgery date.

I've been checking the mail now for 2 weeks straight hoping that that day would be the day I got info from the hospital about the surgery. I don't even have a time yet.

Today - mail came and still nothing. Friday, I called their office and left a message. Their recorder service said that someone would get back to me within the next business day. Monday came and went.... no call back. I called again this morning. Left another message telling them that I was getting concerned because I've gotten nothing in the mail and the surgery date is coming up quickly and I just need to know what's going on.
Its nearly 4pm (I called at 9am) and I haven't heard anything.
I'm starting to be a little perterbed.
I know they're busy. But do you think they could give me even a LITTLE info??

Sunday, the 'prayer shawl ministry' that is at my church (a bunch of folks knitting prayer shawls basically for people who are ill) gave Sarah a lovely purple shawl made with prayers for her to bring to the hospital. She loves it and I can hardly get her to take it off.
Another woman at church gave her a little glowing pumpkin snowglobe thingy (it's about a 1" snowglobe) so she could take that with her to the hospital so she won't be scared. She loves that thing too and has to sleep with it at night too.
The folks at church want to have someone at the hospital the day of the surgery to wait with us --- but I've got no information to give them.

I'm just super frustrated right now. Things are supposed to be getting better and I feel as frustrated as ever right now!

I'm so sorry Karen. That stinks that no one is calling back and giving you information.

Do you need to do bloodwork the day before or a few days before she goes in? I would think they would need to get you that information.

yeah - that's what I was wondering. If we had to go in the day before or something for bloodwork etc...

Well, I just got a call from the Neurosurgeon's office. They did mail out a letter but I haven't received it yet. The woman sounded surprised that I hadn't received it so she told me what it was going to say over the phone.

the surgery is scheduled for 1:30pm this coming monday
we have to be checked in at 11:30 am and then there are a bunch of food restrictions etc.

She will only have to spend one night overnight (as long as everything goes as planned) and she should be allowed to return to school the following monday (the 10th).

so... now things are starting to take an actual shape!!
