It was better today- they moved everyone further up- away from the street. It's much safer- now they just need to work on getting a more efficient way to get the kids out.

Apparently, LOTS of people called/emailed the district level folks b/c we had 2 different district level saftey people there observing and hopefully making suggestions.

I had to go back to the school today (day 2- Jacob forgot his lunch box already. ) and had a nice talk with the principal about it- she saw me and asked if today was better- I said it was much better from a saftey stand point, but the efficency wasn't there yet- we chatted for about 10-15 minutes, and she was really glad to get positive feed back and helpful suggestions. Hopefully by the end of the week we'll have a better system in place for dismissal.

At least you are all working together to solve the efficency issue and at least they worked on the safety part first. Our teacher who lets us in today said "I can't believe you are all here again" ... seriously we all live about a 3-4 minute walk away. I'm thinking she thinks we are all just going to go away and solve her problem.
And of course I was laughing at the forgotten lunch. I just posted in Julia's school one that she forgot to take her box home with her yesterday and ran back to get it. If you find any "lunch remembering" tips ... let me know!! We need them, too!!

Last year, I asked him as soon as he came out the door so he could run back in and get it- now, they won't let them back in until all the kids are gone. Not sure WTH that's all about, but still-so for now, if he forgets it, he's brown bagging it until he remembers to bring the darn thing home.
