Exclamation and the MRI results are in....

and are not exactly what I was hoping for.

We have 2 things to follow up on.

#1, they tested for Celiac disease (drew blood the same time they put the IV in for her MRI) and tested and the antibody IgA came back at a qty of zero.
Which probably only indicates that she has a very rare antibody instead of the common IgA and that she doesn't have Celiac disease, but we have to draw more blood and test THAT blood for the other 2 antibodies and see what they say about Celiac disease.

#2, the MRI showed somewhat inconclusive results.
It didn't say "see right there... the tether on the spine!" but the MRI was also unable to rule it out because her spine did not move the way it should have. (they check for movement during the MRI)
So.... we're now being referred to the Pediatric Neurosurgeon to take a look at the MRI and give a better diagnosis.

I was unable to contact that office before they left for the day, so I'll call them first thing in the morning to make an appointment, but I hear that the wait to get in to see them is exceedingly long... like upwards of 9 months!

So, right now, I'm sticking with the tethered cord but that won't be medically decided immediately. Celiac disease will be ruled out quickly as soon as I get Sarah in to have her blood drawn and tested.

sucks waiting.

I am so sorry it wasn't more conclusive with the info.

Hope you can get in with a pedi-neuro ASAP. Make the appt and put your self on the cancellation list. When we took Jacob (at age 3) it took us about 6 months to get our appt- we made in in mid June and got it for December.

Also- my aunt has Celiac- since she got the gluten out of her system (she's gone GFCF) she's seen a huge turn around. And there are an increasing number of GFCF products out on the market.

Oh MAN! Not what I was hoping for either for Sarah.
I hope you can get into the Doctors office sooner.
How are you holding up? I would be on my wits end by now.

I'm pretty frazzled with the whole thing right now.
I'm tired of the waiting. .. and getting passed from one specialist to another. ... and the co-pays

the Pediatric Neurologist will be Dr #5.
