Red face Today at dinner, Sarah asked...

Today at dinner, Sarah asked me another tough question.

She asked:

"what does a woman do when they accidentially have a baby and they don't want to keep and take care of that baby? "

DH said something along the lines of "most women don't have to worry about that because they almost always want the baby"

she contined "but what if they didn't want the baby after all?"

I told her "then they give the baby to a family who wants to adopt a baby and the baby gets adopted."

The thing is... this question came VERY out of the blue

I'm a bit afraid of all the other things she's thinking about and going to ask me about

Sarah never stops thinking and that's a good thing!! I wonder if something is happening at school with another family or someone overheard something and it's trickling down. OR maybe she took it from something simple as so-and-so's cat is having kittens, they dont' want them/can't keep them and don't know what to do with them. Sarah takes it to the next level .... what happens if a Mommy doesn't want a child. Their minds go a mile a minute and never stop, huh??

nobody I know is pregnant.
we do know of a couple kids who are/were adopted, but I don't think that was the beginning of her question...
perhaps it was something as simple as thinking about the cat/kittens thing

she really does never stop thinking, though
she totally takes stuff to the next level.
Scary as that is, Andrew is 10 steps ahead of Sarah

I bet it was something simple like the kittens or something.

I think you handled it right- just matter of fact and give as little information as it takes to satisfy her.
