Talking what an exhausting weekend!

I swear I walked 10 miles this weekend!

Our Girl Scout troop went to the Oregon Coast for the weekend to finish up working on our Oceanography badge. The weather was AWESOME!!
I was worried that it would decide to rain the whole weekend and we'd have a miserable time, but the sun was out and the weather was nice and mild the whole entire weekend!

We stayed at a cabin that was about 10 blocks from the ocean. We walked back and forth to that area 4 or 5 times and my feet and back is/was KILLING me 1/2 way thru Saturday.

First, we went to the beach and picked up garbage.
Then we walked back to the house for lunch.
Then we walked back to the beach to visit the aquarium. The kids loved that.
Then we went to the arcade area. We played a round of mini-golf (that was the first time 2 of our girls ever played) we spend a few quarters on the arcade games and earned those tickets to exchange for trinkets. Then we had elephant ears for a snack.
Then we went on the carousel.
then we went home and had an hour of 'down time' where the girls colored while the adults sniveled in the corner.
then we walked back to the boardwalk to have dinner at a pizzaria.
then walked back home again.
We played charades until bedtime and the the kids LOVED charades. (I had pre-made a bunch of cards to guess with )
I think it was mostly the first time most of the girls ever played that game and they love love loved it.

I wasn't able to sleep but for about a couple of 45minute stints here and there each night - mostly because one mom brought a fan for white noise so SHE could sleep
I (and a few other people) then could NOT sleep because of the noise. I'm going to have to make a rule about that stuff for the future.

this morning, we cleaned up and took off for home.
I'm still trying to sort and clean up all the stuff.

tomorrow, I'm a chaperone for Andrew's kindergarten class going to the pumpkin patch.
I don't know if my feet and back can handle it.

ahh
bread that is fried flat then buttered and dipped in the cinnamon sugar. They're about the size of a paper plate - and look like... elephant ears.

In california, they have Churros all over the place. Same stuff... different shape prettymuch. (only elephant ears are better, they oftentimes have a great many flavors other than the original cinnamon/sugar)

What an awesome trip!!!!!! I would love to do something like that with my Troop but I don't think I could hang in a car with them 8-10 hours one way to get to a beach!!! You're such a great leader!!!
