Question My appointment and a question

So I had my first appointment today with the ob...and I LOVE him. He was very nice and listened.
He did an ultrasound and seen that my uterus lining was thick like in early pregnancy but didn't see anything. I knew going in that he probably wouldn't but was still a little concerned.
He is running my beta's today and friday to see if there doubling like they should and then I have another appointment in two weeks for another ultrasound.
So with everyone who has had babies before how soon were you able to see the baby on the ultrasound? I know your beta has to be over 1000 too see it but how many weeks were you?
Another peraniod question... Are your symptoms fluctuating? meaning does one day your bb's not hurt as bad but your m/s is horrible?
I know I'm just worried but would like some ideas...
Thanks Ladies.

When we went to the perinatologist at 5 wks we saw just a teeny tiny black sac. Tech said it looked like a healthy 5wk sac but I was still worried. I had read stories of people who had been able to see a heartbeat at 5 wks well that wasn't the case for me. My dr also ordered betas and when I went back the next week
my betas had been 11,000 then up to 18,000. So they didn't exactly double, but they did indeed go up and my dr. said we would take those numbers!
I pray pray pray that you see you little one at your next ultrasound, it should be big enough by then to see something. Keep positive

Thanks meg! I don't think my numbers are in the thousands yet. That alone scares me. I just want this all to go well. I don't know what I will do if I do miscarry this one.
I have been praying and have made it this far. I just pray that everything is uneventful from here on out.
Thank you for your words...I need it!

My Peri said not to dwell so much on what the numbers are, you mainly just want them to be going up reasonably well! I love my dr as well. It makes such as huge difference doesn't it! Especially when they really listen to your concerns!

I wish I could give you advice on this one...but Im just as full of paranoid questions and stuff too!! I can tell you that I don't think its totally abnormal not to see it on the ultrasound yet...mine have NEVER showed up even before I miscarried around 6 wks but I have friends that have had to go in multiple times and don't see it til what would seem to be 'oddly later' but I think its ok. We're in it together don't worry!!
