Default $1 a gallon

who would have ever thought this past summer that we might actually see gas prices at close to $1 a gallon again.

WOW!! That rocks! In our area we finally went down in a few stations to 1.89.

I really wonder if the govt does manipulate the gas prices a bit with the economy being what it is. I never usually think that way, and realize that it's a commodity and since the market did this....yadda yadda, but seriously....this is the lowest prices in 3 years. It hasn't just gone down a bit...this is huge drastic price cuts. Oh, those poor oil companies are probably losing so much money....yeah right! LOL!

I'll believe it when I see it. Of course, I never expected to see it under $2 again, and the stations around here range from $1.50 to $1.60, so who knows.

Of course, Laurie's got a good point - what else will go up? They can't use the excuse that gas is so expensive and transportation costs are high. Diesel has gone down as well.

What I understand about grocery type prices, they lock in fixed delivery prices several times a year and so right now, we are stuck in a time when it is Locked in at the high rates of July and August. What I have read suggests that grocery and pet food prices will go down again the next time they lock in those transportation costs.
I hope gas gets down to $1 because I really do think it will help our economy much better than the bailout plan. The bailout plan is really only helping big business, big investors, and people who are going to need home loans in the next few years. Since I don't fit into any of those catergories, it really doesn't help me at all.
