Default duac gel during pregnancy?

Hi ladies! First off, thank for the TTC advice! Used the clear blue easy ovulation kit and just found out I'm pregnant after two months of trying. After taking the pill for 15 years, this is a blessing! Question, I suffer from acne, and Duac gel works wonders for me. Is it safe during pregnancy since there is a topical antibiotic in it? Anyone had experience with this?

Congratulations! Sorry to inform you, but Duac is not safe during pregnancy. You can use a topical antibiotic, but what you can't use is the benzoyl peroxide. If you are still using it, don't panic, but you should stop. You can ask your doc to give you a prescription for just Clindamycin (that antibiotic in duac). It is safe and I used it through both of my pregnancies. I have suffered from acne since I was 14 (I am 38!) so I sympathize. I was very happy after I gave birth to both of my kids that I could use my retin-a again! Just know- although your skin might break out alot in early pregnancy- your hormones will hopefully balance out. Alot of women see their skin improve during pregnancy- and for me after my 2nd baby my skin is alot better for some reason!

Thank you so much for the info!! I really appreciate it. I will call my derm today to get a scrip for Clindamycin. Hope fully my skin will clear up! At least my pimples are for a good reason right now. :-)
