Default Ever sell your gold?

A friend of a friend is having a party sort of like a reverse-jewelery party. We are supposed to bring anything we want to sell somebody will be there to buy it...cash baby!

So I started looking thru my old stuff & I have more than I thought. I have a bracelet I can't wear because its a bad deisgn & keeps breaking at the clasp and a few necklaces I never wear and don't expect my kids to want. I also have 2 tri-color bracelets...I wonder if they are worth anything? Also now that I've gone thru my jewelery box I'm sure I've thrown out alot of money over the years because old earings had 24K gold posts before the hypoallergenic kind, and I know I tossed out some I never wore. And I think I thru away a necklace that was hopelessly tangled. stupid stupid stupid! :

My MIL recently sold a bunch of gold and got a lot of money for it. I was surprised how much it went for. Good Luck!

I sold a bunch of my old stuff that was broken on Ebay and got almost $500 for it. And supposedly the cost has went up since then. If you by any chance have a scale that weighs grams, weigh them. I think they are getting between $8-$10 per gram. I got $4-$5 per gram for my stuff on Ebay before the cost went up. Good luck, make sure you don't give it away at a steal, because if all else fails, there is always Ebay.

Its easier for me to do this than go thru Ebay. I don't trust mailing it off but thanks for the tip...I will weigh some of it and see if it matches their scales.

I did. I was also surprised at how much it went for. I got about $125 for a bunch of stuff that's sitting in my jewelry box not being worn. Now that I know I'll only have boys, I feel free-er about selling the stuff I never wear. I'll keep a few "heirloom pieces" -- I have my class ring and of course my wedding rings and my gandmomther and mother's class rings as well.

Anyway--- I'd totally do it, and the place I went to made me an offer and would have been fine with me saying no if I didn't think the price was good enough.
