I went to the jewelery store to see how much it would cost to fix my wedding band (it had to get cut off my finger when I was pg with dd) I also had this little gold band that goes in between my wedding band and engagement ring. It is suppose to hook them together but I could never figure it out so I did not even use it. It was like a gram of gold and I thought they might be able to melt it down to help fill in the gold were my ring was cut. The guy said they dont do that but they could buy the gold and I could use the money towards fixing my ring. It was like $10 just for this little strip thing. I was shocked. I thought about taking all my broken gold up there and getting enough credit to pay the whole $125 it will cost to fix my wedding ring. lol I still haven't done it though. Maybe I will this week and see how much I can get, now I'm curios! lol

I went last night & it was BORING because the woman was so slow and she did it in a bedroom so the rest of us couldn't see. She didn't have the correct tools to remove stones so it was taking her forever and I was last to arrive so last on the list.

I only got $375 but I figured it out and she gave me about $8/gram for 14k so I think its a fair price - I weighted some before & I just didn't have as much as I originally expected. Plus she couldn't get the diamonds out of a pair of studs so those didn't get sold. But $375 is better than nothing so no complaints.

And now I can think of 2 pairs of earings and a pearl ring that I have no idea where they disappeared to...I wonder if somebody went thru my jewelery box?!!

Benita needs to say hello
Default Better than a gold party...

I would strongly suggest checking out the Silver and Gold Exchange before selling gold or silver to ANYONE. I did a great deal of research, online and offline, and learned a lot about this business. I checked pawn shops, jewelers, "gold parties", hotel "buying events as well as the online buyers, including the "as seen on tv" guys. I found that the Silver and Gold Exchange paid more than anyone else I could find. I liked the fact that they post the prices they pay per gram (beware of the places that quote in pennyweight/DWT) on a live price chart at SilverAndGoldExchange .com I also checked out their Better Business Bureau report and found they have never had a single complaint as opposed to HUNDREDS of complaints some other companies have! I can recommend them 100%

Yeah, but it was easier for me to bring it to a gold party than to mail off my jewelry. I realize I probably got less than I could have if I really tried but I didn't have that much that it would have made such a difference.

Now I'm seeing ads that Kevins Jewelers (a big chain here) is buying gold. I'm gonna ask what they pay next time I"m in the mall...just curious what the difference is.
