You should call the dr. There are signs all over our hospitals stating NOT to give OTC cold meds to children under two yrs of age.

I agree. We're told not to give OTC to babies under 2 years. I'd call the pediatrician and ask.

You can put a cool mist humidifier in her room, elevate the head of her crib, and use baby saline drops to help with congestion.

Good luck. I hope she's feeling better soon!!

There are no cold meds for infants; the Motrin & Tylenol for infants are mainly for bringing down a fever.

My 19 month old currently has a cold & have been doing saline drops then sucking the snot out of her nose with the bulb syringe. She hates it, but she won't blow her nose either, so we struggle through it! We also have been rubbing her chest & back with Infant Vapor Rub at night to help her breathing, elevated one end of her mattress by putting a pillow underneath & placing her to sleep her head/chest on the elevated end. You can also use Johnson's Soothing Vapor Bath; you just add it to the water while giving a bath & it also helps them breath. The warmth of the water, plus the vapors seem to help loosen the mucus, so right after the bath is a great time to use the bulb syringe. She had a slight cold when she was younger, and we basically did all the same stuff we are doing now.
